A history of industry firsts
Challenger X made automotive history in 2000 as the first Chrysler muscle car to bring the pro-touring movement to mainstream car magazines. It remains a landmark build, noted for being the first street-driven vehicle to utilize a carbon fiber driveshaft.
In 2003, Pure Vision made automotive history by installing the first paddle shifters in an American car - a full three years before the Corvette. The custom-built system was featured on the 1972 Plymouth GTX-R and unveiled to the world at the SEMA show.
Debuting at the Mopar Performance exhibit during SEMA 2008, the 1969 Dodge Charger “515-GTB” showcased a sophisticated blend of American muscle and European racing aesthetics. Most notably, it distinguished itself as the first road-legal vehicle in the United States to feature a fully integrated, self-contained pneumatic air jack system built directly into the chassis.
Unveiled at SEMA 2025, the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, “Haraka,” represents a significant engineering milestone as the first street-legal vehicle to feature a comprehensive, header-back carbon fiber exhaust system, including fully integrated carbon fiber mufflers.
